I have both social and technical skills, as I have worked in customer service positions and taught myself how to build websites and this server. On top of that I also ran for member of parliament as an independent at the age of 18.

Experience

Compassionately Speaking - Early Middle of 2026

This project started when I wanted to help my mum move her website onto my own server to cut down on hosting costs. With the way it was set up I couldn't simply move the website so I had to remake it from scratch. I mainly kept the design the same, just fixing little bits up, adding in a dark mode for people with dark mode turned on, having the sizing adjust, slight animations to the transitions, etc.

This was when I had created a node.js program so I could build websites faster and more efficiently, I had it generating the HTML files to the website directory. It was pretty simple, I was still mostly using HTML inside the JavaScript, but for anything I knew I would reuse I created a function for it so I could change aspects all in one place. Using scripting also meant I could easily change the naming and I could have the header and footer in a separate file that would get added with the main content of the page.

Campaigning For Member Of Parliament - Early 2025

When I turned 18 I started taking an interest in politics as there was actually something I could do about it and I'm legally required to vote or at least abstain. I realised a lot of young Australians weren't interested in politics and unaware of what was happening so I decided to run for parliament so I could try to get other people to take an interest and make their vote count for something. I learnt a lot of important skills such as how to talk to people in a casual way whilst staying professional.

Home Server - 2024 - current

Around 2024 I built a home server as I had seen some videos about its usefulness and I had enough spare parts laying around, I went through the journey of going through various articles, tutorials, and documntation to learn how it all works. I made my share of mistakes but persevered and gained some valuable insight, and I now use it to host this website as well as my email and some other services I personally use. I go into more detail at projects.

McDonalds - end of 2020 - start of 2022

I worked at McDonalds for a bit over a year. Working there, I had learnt about proper business procedures, food safety and speaking to customers, as well as communicating with other employees.
